Ladies’ League Meets for Flower Arranging Class
In New Jersey, the Demott Ladies’ League gathered for an Ikebana: Flower Arranging Class on Sunday afternoon, October 9. The class was taught by Hideko Lewis, a master artist from Japan.
The purpose of the league is for moms, daughters, and sisters of the community to connect through different activities. The Demott Ladies League kicked off in May with a tea party and held their second gathering in early July by making jam.
About 16 ladies attended the class which was two hours long. Mrs. Lewis began the class with a brief history lesson about the origins of flower arts in Japan. Three guests attended the event and enjoyed the experience quite a bit.
“Everyone who attended left feeling proud of the arrangements they created,” said Sunmarie Burns. “They had a lot of fun learning and creating with their sisters.”
