National Council Convenes in Dallas
The FFWPU USA National Council held their biannual National Council gathering from September 30 to October 2 at the new Dallas Family Church building in Dallas, Texas. Much ground was covered at this meeting, as the National Council heard and unpacked the FFWPU USA strategic plan presented to them by Continental Chairman Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, as well as the results of the National Council Member Survey recently executed by the council.
“The main themes we covered were survey results, member care, engaging our young people, and communication,” said Mari Curry, President of the National Council.
Saturday was dedicated to reviewing the 2020 strategic plan, checking in with all the National Council sub-committees, and reviewing the results of the survey. The day closed with a discussion and Q&A with Dr. Michael Balcomb, FFWPU USA President.
On Sunday, the National Council had a meeting over lunch with local Unificationists after Sunday Service. The meeting included a panel discussion that focused uniquely on the Dallas Unificationist community.
“It was something we intentionally did as part of our meeting to better engage with the community,” said Mari. “We discussed questions like council concerns, second generation development, next steps, and more.”
After service, the National Council continued to discuss the survey results and develop a plan of action to address the needs, concerns, and hopes brought up by more than 500 Unificationists who responded to the survey.
In the coming weeks, the National Council will continue to work on this plan with Dr. Kim and Dr. Balcomb as they also discuss as a team the many insights gleaned from the survey. The National Council will share more details as they unfold at familyfed.org/nationalcouncil.
Because the survey was extensive, the National Council is still going over the findings, and will be giving an initial report in the next few weeks, also to be available on the National Council website. Stay tuned also for the meeting notes, which will be shared no later than the end of the month.
At the Dallas meeting, the National Council also conducted the raffle for those who filled out the survey, and will begin sending Amazon gift cards to the winners by next week.
