CARP Las Vegas Marks End of School Year with a Family Night
The Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) Las Vegas celebrated the end of the school year with a banquet at the International Peace Education Center on Friday, May 13. More than 70 guests attended this dinner—CARP members and their families, local sponsors and supporters, and Las Vegas Family Church members—with the intention to appreciate their own families more deeply and recommit to spread God-centered family values.
CARP Las Vegas President Jinil Fleischman offered a toast to start the evening. Over dinner, each guest had the opportunity to introduce their family members to the room.
After a heart-warming musical performance by the CARP Diem band, everyone was ready for the main activity, in which each person reflected on someone who had invested in their lives and impacted who they were. Then a microphone was passed around the room and a number of guests shared their reflection, some even in tears, thanking the person who had unconditionally cared for them.
Some guests expressed appreciation to CARP for investing in their students and children. One teacher talked about how her students were personally impacted by CARP volunteer mentors. A parent thanked God for CARP and all that CARP represents.
In his message, CARP Las Vegas Director Akira Watanabe emphasized the value of family. He also took the opportunity to introduce a new purity pledge program. Through this educational program, CARP plans to encourage young adults to live a life of purity, spiritually and physically, and to remain sexually abstinent until they are married, as preparation for receiving the Marriage Blessing and building a healthy family.
The program ended with a prayer offered by Mr. Richard Morales, whose daughter has been involved with CARP activities.
New CARP members said they felt proud to have their parents and siblings attend this event. Just by being there, their family members were able to experience firsthand what CARP was all about and taste the heavenly culture centered on True Parents’ love.
It was truly a beautiful evening of bonding and healing, hope and renewal of commitment to spread the culture of heart and family centered on True Parents’ love and teaching.
