Young Unificationist Still Missing in Sewol Ferry Disaster
Among the passengers still missing after the tragic sinking of a South Korean passenger ferry on Wednesday, April 16 is a young Unificationist-born youth, Yeoung-eun Kim.
Yeoung-Eun KimThe Sewol Ferry was carrying 476 people, many of whom were high-school students on a trip to the southern resort island of Jeju, when it sank off the coast of South Korea. According to the website “Korean Sewol Ferry Disaster” (a site that has running updates in English based on news sources in Korea), there were 174 passengers rescued, 121 dead, and 181 missing. At this point, there is still no confirmation of Yeoung-eun Kim’s condition.
Yeoung-eun Kim is a 17-year-old high school student from Ansan Kyeongido, South Korea. Her parents, Jung-ho Kim and Yayoi Nakajima, are a Korean-Japanese Unificationist couple. Members of their local Ansan church congregation have been praying and offering sincere devotion for confirmation of her safety.
Brothers and sisters all over the world are encouraged to pray for the protection of her and the rest of the passengers, and for comfort and support of the stricken families during this difficult time.
