Shine City Project Celebrates 3-Year Anniversary
Three years have passed since the Shine City Project began cleaning the streets of Las Vegas. A registered student club at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas (UNLV), the Shine City Project was founded upon True Father’s vision of changing “Sin City” to “Shine City” through youth service initiatives.
So far, more than 100 students have participated in over 300 service projects, collecting thousands of pounds of garbage, cleaning up streets and parks, and volunteering with several non-profit organizations.
On the evening of Friday, March 18, club officers John, Angela and Jannette invited friends and family to a special appreciation dinner at the local Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) chapter house. More than 25 people came to enjoy the barbecue dinner and to listen to each other’s stories.
After dinner, special letters of appreciation were awarded to those who had volunteered regularly through the Shine City Project. The club officers hope to expand the Project in its fourth year, collaborating with more organizations and involving more students from UNLV.
