Atlanta youth host Sunday service with Mari Curry
The Atlanta Family Church community had the pleasure of hosting Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA Vice President Mari Curry for the weekend of February 27-28. Mari’s visit was part of the National Ministry Team’s ongoing efforts to foster connections between the national and local ministries.
Saturday evening, Mari met with about 20 youth and young adults at the Lapres family home over dinner. She asked each person to share what he or she was inspired about and how they experience God. Sharing about her own experiences of how God is working through and guiding her, Mari expressed how deeply inspired she is about True Mother’s vision and care for all of us.
As she addressed questions ranging from the purpose of the Top Gun workshop to what it’s like to work on the National Ministry Team, Mari also shared about her personal faith experiences. Since many of those in attendance that night are in the middle of preparations for the Il Shim ceremony, the primary rite of passage for Unificationist youth, the evening’s discussion dovetailed perfectly with their process of learning to own their faith.
At the monthly youth service on Sunday, Mari gave a homily on the topic of “Faith in Motion,” in which she challenged us to live our lives with gratitude. She stated that when we see our world with a grateful heart, everything will look more beautiful, which will not only make us happier but help us to reach out to others and to share our faith naturally. The service also included a literary recitation, a musical number and several performances by the youth of the Atlanta community.
After sharing lunch together, Mari offered her final thoughts, sharing her insights with parents and young adults of the community and encouraging us to continue investing in one another.
