Help Build an Engineering School in Zimbabwe

Reverend Joseph Tegwere, the Blessed Family Department Director in Zimbabwe, has been working hard to achieve his dream of building an engineering school in his home town of Harare. Rev. Tegwere, a motor vehicle engineer and manager with 30 years experience in the field, became concerned about the young people in his community as he saw them trapped in a cycle of drug abuse, juvenile delinquency and unemployment. His own path began with similar challenges, as he was forced to leave school at an early age when his parents couldn’t afford school fees. After working his way up from selling eggs on the street to apprenticeship programs and finally earning his diploma and the status of a first class artisan, he saw a way that he could give back.
“By opening a motor vehicle engineering school, I have confidence that these teens in the streets and the unemployed can be turned into engineers who can contribute to the global manpower for the betterment of the world.” He states, “I have trained many people during my work and some are working in other countries like South Africa, Namibia, Canada, Australia, Britain, New Zealand, America and at the United Nations.”
Rev. Tegwere faces an uphill battle since he has been unable to secure loans from the bank. Much of his support has come through generous donations in the local community and abroad. Recently, a community member offered land for lease for the school. He has since applied for registration with the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology development.
With the help of the international community, Rev. Tegwere hopes to continue working toward building and establishing the school. “We are not going back,” he said in his recent update. “We are determined until we realize our goal.”
You can learn more about the school, follow updates and offer your support at the GoFundMe page that has raised over $1,900 to date. For backers, Rev. Tegwere offers this sincere promise, “In return for your donation I will pray for you 12 minutes every day for 40 days so that God can help you in other ways you wish in your life. My prayer condition will cover even to those who read this project and have a heart to help, but have no money, because that heartistic support is regarded as a donation.”
