Kansas City Family Church Develops Sustainable Model for Outreach

The Kansas City Family Church held their first outreach revival program from September 28 to October 4, 2015. The theme of the campaign was “Let’s Revive Ourselves by Reaching Out.” Although the outreach group was small, it consisted of a few local Unificationists who participated for a couple of hours each day throughout the week. Everyone soon realized that the real success of this effort was due to the fact that local Unificationists got involved in manageable amounts of time, which is a sustainable style for continuing this effort.

Some team members went to a campus for outreach, and others went downtown. Throughout the week-long effort, four lectures were given and one new guest came to the church center. Several of the team members said they hadn’t had a chance to witness for years and enjoyed talking with young people on campus. Others said they found it doable to witness once a week, even if just for one or two hours.

A new Unificationist, Etienne, started phone witnessing—which is exactly how he was first introduced to the Divine Principle. He started giving Divine Principle lectures by telephone to two of his friends, who continue to be interested in learning more.
After a successful endeavor, outreach remains a focus for the Kansas City community going forward.
