L.A. Community Honors Charleston Shooting Victims

Unificationists in Los Angeles will come together with local clergy and community on Saturday, October 3 to commemorate the lives of Rev. Clementa Pinckney and eight other members of the Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina. A tree will be planted with a plaque in their honor on Alvan Boulevard between 81st and 83rd street at 10:30am as part of the “L.A. Community Global Peace Festival.”
Over a dozen local organizations and churches will participate in the event, including the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), Cassandra Buchanan Ministries, Christ Community Truth Church, Christian Light Baptist Church, First Summit Evangelical Church, Good Citizens Deed Foundation, and many more.
Following the tree planting, participants will celebrate the “Blessing of Marriage and Family” where various Los Angeles clergy will offer prayers for healing and restoration of love in the family. The event promises lively gospel music, refreshments and friendly community. All are welcome.
