True Father Seonghwa Anniversary Memorial Held at IPEC

After much planning, construction and anticipation, the International Peace Education Center (IPEC) in Las Vegas finally opened its doors this year. Though True Father ascended to the spirit world before its completion, the building is a living testimony to his vision and legacy.

This year, local Unificationists were able to commemorate the third anniversary of True Father’s Seonghwa (ascension) within the halls of IPEC. It was a significant and moving experience that included prayers by Rev. Do Hee Park and performances by local Japanese Unificationists and college students from the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) Las Vegas. They watched the live broadcast of the memorial event in Korea which included words from True Mother and Sun Jin Moon.

It was wonderful to see True Mother and Sun Jin Moon so spirited, determined and happy. I feel I am understanding True Father’s heart more and more—how he loved the world and loved me. I am grateful to be a part of God’s liberation and bringing in a world of heart, of peace and of love.

The Seonghwa ceremony made me feel grateful to be a part of the movement at this time. Although my knowledge of True Parents is not much, just knowing the name True Parents has elevated my life. The Seonghwa made me realize that wherever I am with my relationship with our Heavenly Parent and True Parents, as long as I have a connection with them I will eventually reach where God wants me to be—my portion of responsibility included.

When I was in Korea at the time when True Father passed, for weeks I couldn’t shed a tear. I felt in complete and total shock. But, I also felt a void, like there was so much I haven’t achieved and I had only emptiness to offer. It was terrible. However, as I attended True Father at his passing ceremony one last time, I said, “True Father spent so much energy and love in America, so I have to give something back to him, I have to complete my portion of responsibility and offer it to Heavenly Parents and True Parents. It’s my turn to say, “I have completed everything.”
