God’s Hope: The Holy Marriage Blessing

The Holy Marriage Blessing Ceremony, a tradition started by True Parents in 1960, is a celebration of the commitment of a man and woman to love each other eternally and to create a strong marriage and family. The Marriage Blessing has become a worldwide tradition where couples dedicate their marriage to a greater purpose and to God, and October 3, 2015 is the next chance for couples nationwide to commit or recommit to a marriage centered on God, and to building a family where the Heavenly Parent is alive in each parent and child.

In response to the breakdown of traditional marriage in our world, the Marriage Blessing offers a path to building a world of stronger marriages and healthier families. At the monthly national ministry team meeting on September 15, 2015, Crescentia DeGoede, Director of the Blessing & Family Ministry (BFM), gave a rousing presentation on the value of the Marriage Blessing and how this tradition can transform America and the world.

“Are people embodying the ideal of the Marriage Blessing in America right now?” she asked. “Do we see children growing up knowing they are sons and daughters of God? They need to receive the Blessing, to know what true love really is. Marriage is not easy, but it’s amazing if you invest in it—if God is in the center of a marriage. I envision Marriage Blessings happening every month, then every week, and then every day—and that is how we are going to transform America.”
