Climate Change: What You Can Do

We live on this planet. What would you do if, by the end of your lifetime, your home was completely submerged by water? This phenomenon is already a reality today due to climate change. On September 12, 2015, a severe tropical storm flooded towns in Japan, causing thousands of people to lose their homes. Not only Japan, but Vietnam, Bangladesh, the Netherlands and many other nations have experienced similar tragedies in recent years. This weekend True Mother shared the urgency that is in her heart for us to act, before our world becomes irreversibly damaged.
True Mother’s Words Regarding the Damage Caused by the Flood in Japan
September 12, 2015
Severe Tropical Storm Etau flooded the Ibaraki and Tochigi prefectures, both near Tokyo, with more than 600 millimeters [almost 24 inches] of heavy rains. Several buildings were flooded and sustained heavy damage; 170,000 people had to be evacuated due to the floods and the ensuing landslides. Heavy rains are flooding the northern parts of Japan, and more damage is expected. The Family Federation for World Peace (FFWPU) and Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) must evaluate the situation and provide support.
In 2013, heavy flooding on the Italian island of Sardinia resulted in 18 casualties and more than 800 displaced people. All around the world, casualties are rising due to natural disasters such as typhoons and floods. All these disasters are related to the rising sea levels caused by global warming. The world’s oceans are not healthy; we can see the increasing numbers of typhoons and floods causing damage. During his lifetime, True Father was deeply concerned about the severity of climate change and strove to find solutions to the issue. To uphold True Father’s Will, the Sunhak Peace Prize selected President Anote Tong of Kiribati as its first laureate. President Tong has worked to alert the global community and find solutions to the severe problem of climate change.
The 2015 Sunhak Peace Prize emphasized care for the environment. Laureate Anote Tong has worked to alert the global community and find solutions to the severe problem of climate change.
There will be more damage caused by climate change around the world. The way to prevent such damage is to properly know the truth, attend True Parents as the center and move in unison toward the same direction. It just so happened that the nation damaged by floods this time was Japan, a major nation in the Pacific Rim which has a providentially important mission as the central nation in the Federation of Island Nations. As we could see in the musical performed during the Third Seonghwa Memorial, True Parents have tremendous love, both practical and substantial, for the nation of Japan. When Japan follows the Will of True Parents and, centering on FFWPU, seeks to benefit the whole rather than its national interests, the problems will be solved. This is the only way to life.
From now on, the Korean Segye Ilbo, the Japanese Sekai Nippo and The Washington Times must cover the damages caused by the flooding in Japan, remind people 120 percent, 150 percent, 200 percent about the background and purpose of the Sunhak Peace Prize and properly testify about True Parents, the center of humanity. All blessed families, organizations and businesses must witness and testify about True Parents in unison with one Will. We must invest ourselves so that all governments can make and implement policies based on True Parents’ thought.

What You Can Do
NASA is one of many organizations on the forefront of bringing awareness and solutions to the effects of climate change. True Parents have also long been deeply concerned about environmental issues. Earlier this year, True Mother addressed an international leadership conference, saying:
“The world created by God is characterized by harmony, balance, cooperation and sustainability. The world we live in, however, has been widely abused and mismanaged. Many fear that the declining quality of air and water, coupled with climate change, may lead to catastrophic disasters. Such degradation of the environment is a prime example of humanity’s separation from God. Virtually every square inch of the earth is owned by some individual, corporate entity, or government. However, are there ‘True Owners’ who are dedicated to proper care of the natural environment?”
Also this year, the first Sunhak Peace Prize was awarded to two laureates who have made significant impacts on the environment. Laureate President Anote Tong, the President of the Republic of Kiribati located in the South Pacific, one of the world’s most vulnerable countries threatened by climate change, is spreading awareness to the international community of the need to control climate change. Even in the wake of the despair that his own country is being submerged underwater within the next 30 years, he has taken the lead in protecting marine ecosystems by designating the world’s largest marine park. In addition, he has taken steps to secure the rights of his own people, as climate refugees who must leave their homeland due to climate change.
What can you do to actively spread awareness and make a substantial effort to alleviate this global issue? Get in contact with a local, national or international organization that fights climate change and see how you can get involved!

Thanks Gil for your fine explanation. So sad all that money is wasted when it is need to overcome greater problems malnutrition, homelessness etc. Wish we could work faster to heal this old world.

Top US scientist Hal Lewis resigned this week from his post at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He admitted global warming climate change was nothing but a scam in his resignation letter.
From the Telegraph (because for some reason the Liberal Media here in the U.S don’t like this stuff getting out).
The following is a letter to the American Physical Society released to the public by Professor Emeritus of physics Hal Lewis of the University of California at Santa Barbara
Sent: Friday, 08 October 2010 17:19 Hal Lewis
From: Hal Lewis, University of California, Santa Barbara
To: Curtis G. Callan, Jr., Princeton University, President of the American Physical Society
6 October 2010
Dear Curt:
When I first joined the American Physical Society sixty-seven years ago it was much smaller, much gentler, and as yet uncorrupted by the money flood (a threat against which Dwight Eisenhower warned a half-century ago).
Indeed, the choice of physics as a profession was then a guarantor of a life of poverty and abstinence – it was World War II that changed all that. The prospect of worldly gain drove few physicists. As recently as thirty-five years ago, when I chaired the first APS study of a contentious social/scientific issue, The Reactor Safety Study, though there were zealots aplenty on the outside there was no hint of inordinate pressure on us as physicists. We were therefore able to produce what I believe was and is an honest appraisal of the situation at that time. We were further enabled by the presence of an oversight committee consisting of Pief Panofsky, Vicki Weisskopf, and Hans Bethe, all towering physicists beyond reproach. I was proud of what we did in a charged atmosphere. In the end the oversight committee, in its report to the APS President, noted the complete independence in which we did the job, and predicted that the report would be attacked from both sides. What greater tribute could there be?
How different it is now. The giants no longer walk the earth, and the money flood has become the raison d’être of much physics research, the vital sustenance of much more, and it provides the support for untold numbers of professional jobs. For reasons that will soon become clear my former pride at being an APS Fellow all these years has been turned into shame, and I am forced, with no pleasure at all, to offer you my resignation from the Society.
It is of course, the global warming scam, with the (literally) trillions of dollars driving it, that has corrupted so many scientists, and has carried APS before it like a rogue wave. It is the greatest and most successful pseudoscientific fraud I have seen in my long life as a physicist. Anyone who has the faintest doubt that this is so should force himself to read the ClimateGate documents, which lay it bare. (Montford’s book organizes the facts very well.) I don’t believe that any real physicist, nay scientist, can read that stuff without revulsion. I would almost make that revulsion a definition of the word scientist.
So what has the APS, as an organization, done in the face of this challenge? It has accepted the corruption as the norm, and gone along with it…
I do feel the need to add one note, and this is conjecture, since it is always risky to discuss other people’s motives. This scheming at APS HQ is so bizarre that there cannot be a simple explanation for it. Some have held that the physicists of today are not as smart as they used to be, but I don’t think that is an issue. I think it is the money, exactly what Eisenhower warned about a half-century ago. There are indeed trillions of dollars involved, to say nothing of the fame and glory (and frequent trips to exotic islands) that go with being a member of the club.

One thing can done , this just a idea! When we buy articles in the shop , we endup with many piece of paper ,or plastic and so on that protect and covered these articles .And what do we do next ? We put them in the garbage for wast.I prpose that instead of the cosummers taking care of the waste articles ,THAT the busines that produce it should be responsible for recycling all the way , not the consumers ! Then , you would soon see change in the packaging because the compagny will want to reduce the cost ( because as citizens when indirectly paid for it when we buy something whaever it is ) Why not said to business: YOU WANT TO SELL ON THE SHOP , SO MAKE SURE THAT 100% , YOU TAKE CARE OF THE WASTE !
If we do like this , a lot of pollution will be reduce drastically ( paper , plastic ,and so on !) It is not for the consumers to deal in this matter for the products a business put on sale .We have been to kind for long time and they were making a lot of money .When we look at nature , there no pollution everything is recycle ! This is just a idea of howw we can reduce pollution and live safely and in good health.Have hope , may thing will change !BYE .

Good point – there are so problems on so many levels in the world, it is too much to focus on all of them. But someone has to address these things. We can’t pretend (climate change) doesn’t exist. We can all do our share – however small. Recycle, try not to waste, bring a homeless guy some food, say HI to our fellow beings. Witness!

I hope we can distinguish between 2 Things. The protection of the environment and avoiding pollution as very necessary on the one hand. On the other hand there is the belief that the human share of Co2 emission is causing the climate change. I hope we don`t buy that. In Germany, where I live, we spent more than 18 Billion Euros per year to avoid CO2 emission by shutting down nuclear plants and putting up windmills everywhere and thus making energy more and more expensive every year. I strongly believe that this money spent for avoiding the human share of co2 emission, could be used much better for saving lives of people who starve to death every year instead of believing by that we could limit the rise of temperature on this planet by this debatable measures. First make sure that you really know and understand the reasons for climate change before spending large sums of money for measures that do not have any effect.

Ironically, many “liberal” leaders and organizations have been pointing to the problem of global warming for many years, and the conservatives have been seeking to debunk those concerns. As the true “Lords of Creation” True Parent’s also recognize that this a real and obvious reality that we should be at the forefront of confronting. Aju to True Mother for her practical application to this most important global concern, which our subsequent generations will have no choice but to deal with.

Yes the solution is first….stop buying Chinese items, they are the biggest pollutants in the world. Second is to be aware of your surroundings and do not waste water, electricity, gas when driving, or any other form of energy wasted for personal comfort. Third recycle as much as possible and take care of things in general from personal clothing to food and trash. Saving the planet takes a 10’x10′ garden in your property with native plants. This would create the perfect air and green mini forest that if in every home, would clean the atmosphere rather sooner than it took to destroy it. Last but not least, human pollution is the worst, irresponsible sexual activity. This destroys families, and creates social anarchism. Good luck and Aju.

I checked the link to the organizations fighting climate change. A number of them have opposed the Keystone pipeline, a project that could generate income for many families in various ways but which has been blocked by Obama needlessly since it has been shown repeatedly by the Environmental Protection Agency to have no negative effect on the environment or climate change. Certainly the EPA is no friend of big oil, and even they admit this project is not a problem. So why do those fighting against it continue to lie about it? Because they are in league with the Communists who want America to be dependent on foreign oil. Russia gains a lot if we are dependent on foreign oil. So do the other oil sheiks of the middle east. If the US no longer uses foreign oil, those countries have no influence over us and they can’t commit atrocities without us being able to say a word against them. If the price of oil is low, the world’s poor benefit, since life depends on energy and cheap energy enables people to live on less. This is also why they oppose fracking, a process that has proven to be safe and effective numerous times. And if, as God has shown us, CO2 is not a problem, why do they fight to control it? Because it gives them political power to control our lives, Satan’s goal. The end result of their efforts will be a tiny elite that lives in luxury while the majority of the world suffers in poverty under their thumb. That is the statist goal of totalitarians, spawn of Satan. The founder of Greenpeace, one of the organizations on that page, has recently denounced the organization as being little more that a communist front. He should know, don’t you think? Don’t fall for these front groups propaganda.

I have read extensively about the question of human production of carbon dioxide causing climate warming and have concluded that it is NOT a problem that has been scientifically proven to be significant. It is being politically used to control the society and collect mores taxes for the various governments. Whenever I see someone concerned about global warming I know they are supporting the increasing of a left-leaning secular government.

All this time I believed Al Gore and the climate scientists who faked the climate numbers in order to steal and re-distribute wealth, were only looking out for their own interests. Guess I’m wrong.
Here I’d thought all along that the earth went through changing climates due to factors such as volcanic eruptions, shifting continents and the earth’s natural cycles such as ice ages.
Before man came on the scene, who caused climate change? While pollution of both water, air and land is indeed something which can be controlled by man, the earths cycles (at least until such a time that the world is filled with God centered people) controlled by mother nature will continue to do her thing.

Climate change is called the weather. We have no, absolutely none, no control over it. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is miniscule. Our contribution to it is even less. The reality is that the climate warms up and cools down in cycles and we have nothing to do with it. To say otherwise would be like having a stadium of 10,000 people being shouted down by 4 people in the stands. Throughout history global warming has preceded CO2 increases because of the oceans. The amount of CO2 in the oceans is higher in cooler global periods and less during warmer periods, as the CO2 is released into the atmosphere from the oceans as they warm up due to solar activity. Only man-made video games called climate models predict global disasters, because that is what they are programmed to do. None of the climate models have made any accurate predictions since they were dreamed up. Everyone talks about greenhouse gases as if they were terrible things, but we need them to balance the climate. They actually work to keep things from getting too hot or too cold. For instance, one interesting effect is that as the percentage of CO2 increases to a saturation point, the greenhouse effect levels out so that more CO2 does not increase the effect. God made it work that way on purpose. It’s why none of the runaway greenhouse effects that were predicted 20 years ago ever happened and never will. After the fall of Communism the totalitarians needed another cause that they could use to gain power. So Satan invented the global warming scare. Anyone with any faith would realize that God would not create a world that would kill us just for expanding our lineage. Actually additional atmospheric CO2 is good for the plants and increases crop yields. Don’t fall for the politicians that say that you have to live in the stone age or else you will destroy the planet. That is not God’s idea of CIG. The Climate Change scare is draining billions from the global economy that could be used to help people in need of food and decent shelter. Nothing we will ever do will change the climate in any significant way. But there are ways we can help our brothers and sisters in need if we put that money to use serving them rather than serving the politicians that want to control them.

Thank you, Gil Roschuni for your accurate explanation.
Family change is what we should be focusing on. It is the root of all of the problems in the world.

I agree with your statement. There is so much greed for the money it is unbelievable. What we want is the truth, not all the lies just for the sake of the money. We want to love our planet correctly as True Father so tried to show us. Also, Love our families and fellow brothers and sisters correctly.
