Peace Road Rally Begins on West Coast

This year, leading up to the third anniversary of True Father’s Seonghwa, thousands of supporters and friends of peace all around the world are walking, riding and driving the proposed course of the Peace Highway in honor of his memory and his dream of peace.
This weekend, just past the halfway mark of this two-month-long event, riders continue along the Peace Road in the USA! On Saturday, July 18, 2015, Peace Road rallies will start in Southern California and will include celebrations in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Anchorage, Kodiak, and Nome, Alaska. Cyclists will rally at the United Nations in New York City on August 4 and on the steps of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on August 6, 2015. Catch this week’s events as they ride through town:
Los Angeles – July 18
Los Angeles residents will pedal for peace on the morning of Saturday, July 18, beginning with a program at 11:00am at the rotunda of the Pasadena City Hall following the annual Parents’ Day event. Bicyclists will ride through historic downtown Pasadena for two miles to the Pasadena Unification Center at the top of Holly Vista Drive, where they will enjoy lunch, presentations, and cheers of welcome from local leaders, family members, and supporters. “Cheer on the riders, or grab your bike and join in!” invites Rev. George Kazakos, Pastor of the Family Church of Los Angeles. The celebrations will end around 2:00pm.
San Francisco – July 19
Cyclists for peace and well-wishers will rally at Crissy Field along the San Francisco Bay near the Golden Gate Bridge at 11:00am on July 19. The main event begins with a three-mile bicycle trek across the Golden Gate Bridge ending at scenic Vista Point near Sausalito.
Prior to the bicycle trek, participants are invited to join a prayer and meditation meeting at 9:00am at the historic Twin Peaks Holy Ground. Once there, at around 10:30am, participants will be greeted by local leaders and supporters, and enjoy a short presentation explaining the purpose and objectives of the Peace Road initiative.
San Diego – July 25
Next week, San Diego residents will pedal for peace on the morning of Saturday, July 25, beginning with a program at 11:00am at Laurel and 6th Avenue in Balboa Park. Endorsements will be given by local leaders and supporters, followed by a presentation on the purpose and objectives of the Peace Road initiative.
“The Peace Road linking 120 countries by highway and selected undersea tunnels was an enduring vision of True Father, and it makes sense to all who see the benefit of bridging cultures for peace through increased prosperity, dialogue, exchange of products, services, ideas and visitors – all afforded by continuous roads,” says Walter Frank, Pastor of the San Diego Family Church.
The Peace Road exemplifies True Father’s conviction that humanity is really one family under God. He believed that if people could meet each other in daily life, through culture, trade, and travel, they would come to break down the historic fears and misunderstandings that often divide us from our closest neighbors.
Be a part of the dream and participate in a Peace Road event near you!
