East Coast Greets Spring with Outreach
Outreach begins in New Jersey, and continues in New York, reflecting the nation’s continuous outreach efforts throughout the year. Here are the latest updates from the East Coast:
New Jersey Unificationists Begin Outreach on Campus
Unificationists in New Jersey have jumped into outreach with the beginning of a new outreach initiative in the region. Participants said they have long thought about how to effectively do outreach, but were not sure where to begin. Inspired by the recent outreach efforts in Los Angeles, participants began on campus at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT).
Manoj Jacobs, Pastor of the Clifton Family Church in New Jersey, met with organizers and offered support. The Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) president of NJIT, Ms. Satoe Ozawa, helped the team rent a conference room on campus to begin. On the day of their first outreach program, they still had not gotten confirmation that they would have a room, but that morning after a prayer at the church, they received word that they would have the room for the afternoon.
That first day, the outreach team invited three students to hear an Introduction to the Divine Principle, held in the conference room. The second day, Generation Peace Academy helped the team get over 15 new contacts. By the third day, three of the students had returned to learn more.
The team is inspired and hopeful that the outreach will continue to grow and allow more young Unificationists to take part in the activities.
New York Unificationists Celebrate Another Exciting Day of Outreach
On Tuesday, May 12, New York Unificationists were invigorated by their time spent with three returning guests, and two new guests, who received Divine Principle lectures.
In the evening, they joined forces with John Arias and the Latino Ministry for an incredible Latino cultural program that included dance, music, poetry and an introduction by Rev. Andrew Compton, District Pastor in New York. There were 43 people in attendance, including 22 guests. Five of the guests were met through the recent outreach efforts. The New York outreach team is going to have the same events again next week on Tuesday, May 19. Everyone is invited to attend!
Yesterday, the team re-centered with a prayer meeting and Bible study. They are looking forward to their last week as a team next week, after which they will build on their momentum to continue to organize local outreach activities and events for guests.
