Dallas Unificationists Commit to Outreach

With the latest outreach efforts launched in Las Vegas and then Hawaii, other communities in the United States are picking up the momentum, inviting people from around the nation to join in. On Sunday, February 22, 2015 the Dallas Family Church kicked off a two-week Dallas Outreach Revival. Along with a celebration of True Parents’ Birthday and True Heavenly Parent’s Day, over 125 people gathered for a special Sunday Service. It was a celebration of the holy days as well as an introduction to the community’s yearlong commitment to outreach.

Representatives of all the different community organizations including Kodan and the Korean Evangelical Association (KEA) helped cut a ceremonial cake and listened as local pastor Rev. John Jackson read from True Father’s 1984 prayer on True Heavenly Parent’s Day from the Cheon Seong Gyeong. The message then turned to the importance of the upcoming outreach efforts.

With several guests in attendance, Rev. Jackson gave the message “A New Year to Believe”, that focused on the Lunar New Year as the ideal time to challenge the way the community thinks about outreach. He asked the congregation to change their mindset; instead of thinking, “That’s impossible,” to think, “What would I do if it was possible?” He also emphasized the difference between a tithe and an offering saying, “The tithe is something that is demanded while the offering comes from the heart and can be multiplied. Similarly, outreach is a real offering, not a campaign but a way of life.” The Dallas Community has already planned their budget and activities around making outreach a priority for the entire year. More than just a kickoff, the day represented the beginning of the community’s recommitment to outreach.

Kodan Director, Rev. Hiroshi Inose, also spoke, and noted recent comments by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) North America Continental Director, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, who shared about focusing on what we can do today to move God’s providence. He also remarked that by True Mother’s initiation for the outreach efforts in Las Vegas and Hawaii, communities around the nation became naturally inspired for continuing the effort and bringing these activities close to home. Local Dallas Unificationists and visiting Unificationists from around the nation are eager to connect to the foundation that has been made in other cities, the vision that True Mother set, and sow new seeds in their own community.
