Young Unificationists Promote ‘Peace Starts with Me’ in Queens
On Sunday, July 2, a group of young Unificationists went out to Corona Park in Queens, New York to invite people to the upcoming Madison Square Garden event, “Peace Starts with Me.” Carrying a large promotional poster for True Mother’s message of truth, the group of Unificationists broke up into teams as they went around to spread the word.
“What do you think about world peace? Do you believe it is attainable?” the Unificationists would ask strangers at the park.
The responses to the question varied, with some believing world peace to be impossible while others were more open to the idea. The Unificationists nonetheless used this topic of peace to promote the July 15 event, “Peace Starts with Me.” They also mentioned that the event features Grammy award-winning gospel artist, Yolanda Adams, as well as the 2000 voice choir.
The experience instilled more determination in the Unificationists, as this group plans to return to Corona Park this Saturday, July 8. They seek to exemplify True Mother’s message, “Peace Starts with Me,” by completing a service project in which they clean around the neighborhood, serve free food to those in need, and invite others to Madison Square Garden.
Carie Arline explained her inspiration for the past effort and upcoming service project: “I want us to be representatives for True Parents and I really resonate with the theme, Peace Starts With Me,” she said. “That’s why I am putting ‘Peace Starts with Me’ into action through this service project.”
After a day of inviting people on the street to “Peace Starts with Me,” Carie’s dedication to True Parents intensified: “Not a lot of people know about True Mother. I feel like it’s my job to tell people who she is. I want to be able to convey to others who she is, so that when she comes, everyone can welcome her.”
