Young Unificationists Learn to Teach the Divine Principle

From July 8 to 21, 35 high school aged Unificationists from all over the east coast gathered in Gloucester, MA to learn how to share core ideas of the Divine Principle with others in an Embodying Principles In Culture (EPIC) Workshop.

Miwa Ishikawa, a Unificationist from New Jersey, was inspired to create this EPIC workshop to teach adolescent Unificationists how to engage in conversation regarding the teachings of the Divine Principle with those who are not familiar with it. Miwa and the rest of the core staff of the workshop had a strong desire to help adolescents apply the Divine Principle to guide their life choices and decisions. Drawing from her own experiences in which she learned these skills, Miwa adopted key points in the Divine Principle module that was offered during her time at Generation Peace Academy.

The workshop included 26 education sessions over the course of 11 days, with content on core Divine Principle concepts, including dual characteristics, the purpose of creation, the human fall, and more. Toward the conclusion of the workshop, the high schoolers put what they learned into practice with a lecture competition. The overwhelming majority of the workshop participants said that they would recommend the workshop to their friends.

Gerry Servito of the National Ministry Team, who was one of the main lecturers and Divine Principle Coach for the workshop, reflected: “Those who are invested in learning about the Principle gained from this experience. Applying what you learn will also increase your appreciation for and understanding of the Principle.” After this wonderful experience, Gerry was pleasantly surprised to hear from a few parents of the workshop participants that their children’s interest in learning about the Principle has increased.
