YAYAM Leadership Retreat Grows in the Southwest
The Southwest Subregion started off the new year with their first annual Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM) leadership retreat from January 4 to 6. The retreat was held in Dallas-Fort Worth at the Dallas Family Church where representatives from different ministries participated in a leadership education series centered around the theme of “Growing Me and My Ministry.”
The weekend was facilitated by Tami Tamayo, the Southwest YAYAM Subregional Coordinator, and Secretary General Izak Hernandez and Dallas YAYAM representative Jin Ae Sakai who organized a variety of activities and discussions to provide opportunities for the participants to recognize their victories and address the challenges they face in their ministries. The participants made plans to implement new structures for the coming year.
Southwest Subregional Director Rev. John Jackson delivered a message about what being a leader is like and encouraged participants to utilize their God given strengths. National Director of Youth and Students Ministry Naokimi Ushiroda led several breakout sessions on being an effective leader and how to set goals. During these breakout sessions, participants created a vision for their ministries and the future of the Unification Movement.
The retreat concluded with joining the local community at the Dallas Family Church for Sunday Service. Naokimi gave the main sermon which focused on God’s feminine characteristics and helped the audience understand True Mother’s heart in more depth. Ministry leaders were rejuvenated by the experience and prepared to take their communities to the next level.
