Wonmo Pyeongae Scholarship Awards Ceremony
Recipients of the 2016 Wonmo Pyeongae Scholarships gathered at the Jeon-A Peace Camp Training Center at Cheong Pyeong on February 14, 2016. Amid the many events surrounding Foundation Day, True Mother personally came to give awardees the message that they can be the hope for the world.
True Mother presented the Wonmo Pyeongae Global and Wonmo Pyeongae scholarships to over four hundred middle, high school and college aged recipients from all over the world, many of whom are entering the Universal Peace Academy program or attending the 5-year program at Sun Moon University in Korea, or have applied to other Unificationist affiliated programs. Representatives of each scholarship group came to the stage to receive the award. As a special treat, 80 middle school awardees who have completed their first year at a cultural arts program in Japan performed a moving rendition of “There Can Be Miracles”, a dance performance and a traditional drum performance.
The Wonmo Pyeongae Global scholarship is given out twice a year to those who choose to apply for the 5-year program at Sun Moon University. This year, recipients the Wonmo Pyeongae Scholarship were given to fifteen youth from America and Canada. This award is given only once a year to outstanding students studying outside of Korea. All recipients pledge one year of public service after graduation as a condition for receiving the award.
