True Mother’s Hoon Dok Hwe at the Cheon Hwa Gung in Las Vegas

The following are notes of True Mother’s words at her Hook Dok Hwe session on October 27, 2012 at the Cheon Hwa Gung, True Parents’ residence in Las Vegas. These notes are taken from a Peace TV video clip and “cannot be published as definitive texts and should never be used in the future as an ‘official’ publication of True Parent’s words. However, they do provide a good idea of the ‘spirit’ of the message,” according to Rev. Katsumi Kambashi.

“In Asia, people feel threatened by China, and they say its power has become rampant. We have to keep watching over it. It’s not easy for China to act freely without consulting Russia. When we held the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) meeting in Vienna this time, some leaders of the former Soviet Union participated, and we learned many new things from them. At this point of the providence, whether True Father stays calm in the spirit world depends on whether you fulfill your responsibility on earth.  Those representatives from the former Soviet Union came to know later that the UPF was established by Father, and they became so excited.

“According to the reports from the continental directors, in some African countries where we have no members, we had an announcement of Father’s Seonghwa in newspapers on a huge scale, introducing him as a great person.  Whether or not we notice, it is obvious to me that all of humanity sent Father to the spirit world with one mind and one purpose.

“Your responsibility is so important. Sooner or later, all of you will go to the spirit world. How do you think you can be a person who can be recognized by Father in the spirit world and be told, ‘You came here now, you have done your utmost efforts on earth?’ Father went to the spirit world after he gave us clear directions and goals. Foundation Day is not the end. Until we liberate all humanity and bring back all 6.5 billion people to Heaven, we have to offer our utmost effort. Father told us to accomplish the responsibility as Tribal Messiah. How many years had he emphasized that? But isn’t it a pity that you can’t witness even to your neighbors?

“Our current situation in the United States is difficult internally. You have only received parents’ love, not given back. What do you think of the fact that you couldn’t turn the United States into a heavenly nation before Father went to the spirit world? When US citizens, who had been living with the Messiah of the Second Coming on earth say, ‘I didn’t know him,’ you are the one who must take responsibility. This is not just the matter of accusation. In the spirit world, which is eternal, you won’t have even a hole in which to hide yourself. Do you know that? That’s why Father had trusted you. Why couldn’t you be successful in witnessing and restoring your tribes? I would say Heaven was never encouraged to help you. You haven’t reached that level where Heaven is moved to help you. You should repent on that.

“Father said, ‘Before wanting to dominate the universe, perfect your dominion over yourself.’ Having been through a penitent Jeongseong period, Father started his course with the mindset ‘God first.’

“I am planning to go from here [Las Vegas, Nevada] by car to the eastern part of the US, and would like to visit the places to which I traveled with Father years ago. I have here a map. Good. I will explore and visit the places he would like to visit as long as my body endures.

“There are many men in Las Vegas. Which is easier do you think: for men to become one or women to become one? You men, make efforts to become one as if you were spending three years mourning at Father’s grave. There is nothing that you can’t do in front of True Parents, is there? Dr. Lee or someone said, ‘When together, you live, and when separate, you die.’ It is so important to be united.

“When Father came to the United States for the first time, he said, ‘The US is sick and so I came here as a doctor. The US is caught on fire so I came here as a fire-fighter.’ It is my understanding that it’s all up to you. You shouldn’t become a person who says, ‘We can’t make it.’ Those who practice what they believe make it. Do you understand?  [Yes.]

“I hope that Father continues to love the US and that I come here often. But I don’t know when I can come back the next time. Again, it’s all up to you. Going back to our early days, we need to establish an atmosphere in our church where people are always giving Divine Principle lectures. In order to be able to lecture, you should first correctly lead your life so that you can give the words of Heaven in place of Father, even under difficult situations. You shouldn’t be self-centered. In order to give up your ego, you need to make your mind and body one. When you can start your work with such an attitude, you are free. You become peaceful. You are happy and so are your neighbors, and that means you have freedom. Don’t you think so? It is the kingdom of heaven where such people live together.

“All you have to do is to live up to Father’s words. Without doing so, you are excusing with this or that theory. Don’t do that. Lead yourself first.

“I have many things to do now for you and your descendants. One thing you should know is that our future is not dark, but bright. Be grateful with each and every thing, and openly report to Heaven, ‘Thank you for protecting and leading me. Because of you, I could do this much today. Tomorrow, I will make more efforts to bring greater honor upon you.’ When you live with such gratitude, you will be happy. We had a WFWP convention here with America, Korean, and Japanese leaders together, and let’s start again with such a spirit. [Yes.]

“OK then, repeat loudly, ‘Thank you Heavenly Father.’ [Thank you Heavenly Father.] ‘Thank you parents.’ [Thank you parents.] ‘Thank you all of us.’ [Thank you all of us.] ‘We love each other.’ [We love each other.]

“Let’s sing a song for Father. Father always had songs and entertainment at Hoon Dok Hwe, and even after he went to the spirit world, he told me to do so.  When I have such an atmosphere, I sing for him.”

Mrs. Wonju McDevitt sang “천년바위” (“Thousand-Year-Old Rock”). Rev. Chang Shik Yang sang “모내기 노래” (“Rice-Planting Song”) and was joined by all, including True Mother. After the song, True Mother repeated a part of the lyrics saying, “Let’s go forward to the new nation and new heaven and earth,” and that concluded the meeting.
