True Mother’s Donated Clothing Raises $100k For Charity
About $100,000 was raised for charity after Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, founder of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and affectionately known as True Mother, donated several pieces of clothing from her personal closet this past spring. She gave away various items, including dresses and purses, for a special online auction held by WFWP Japan. “We are so very moved by the incredible response to this opportunity to raise funds through True Mother’s clothing,” said WFWP USA President Angelika Selle. “The women in Japan who organized the auction understand and deeply admire True Mother’s mission.”
A lifelong advocate of world peace, Dr. Moon spearheaded many peacebuilding initiatives around the globe alongside her late husband, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. As the Mother of Peace, she has continued these efforts through numerous avenues, including the launch of WFWP in 1992. The recent auction was part of a broader clothing donation campaign called “Giving for Good,” initiated by her daughter, WFWP International Senior Vice President Dr. Sun Jin Moon.
“Sun Jin was inspired to help during the COVID-19 crisis and thought of this clothing fundraiser,” said Selle. “The funds raised are now going toward different humanitarian efforts worldwide.”
WFWP USA is also receiving a portion of the auction funds to help communities battling coronavirus. “America is hurting,” said Selle. “Right now we are identifying black women’s organizations that need help in Covid-ridden areas to bring some healing to those communities. We are so deeply touched and grateful for the generosity of True Mother and the amazing heart of Sun Jin.”
Selle said another WFWP auction is slated for the U.S. in the next few weeks.
