True Love Divine Principle Seminar

Nine participants just finished the 9th True Love Divine Principle Seminar, held from July 8-11, 2016 at the International Peace Education Center. Five of the participants were new to the Unification movement—four coming from Las Vegas and one from Dallas—and the other participants included an elder, first-generation couple from Sacramento, CA, an elder Unificationist brother from San Diego CA, and an attendee who came all the way from Japan.
Rev. Andrew Compton, director of education at the International Peace Education Center, commented about the seminar, “It was a great group with lots of variety, including differing spiritual backgrounds. Although some of the participants were hearing formal Divine Principle lectures for the first time, I felt that most everyone deeply appreciated True Parents for the investment they have made to bring us God’s heart, God’s word, and the incredible facility that is the International Peace Education Center.”
Reflections
“I really liked Rev Compton’s style and method of teaching. He employed many practical examples to help us understand the content.
“I am renewed in the understanding and also in the real experience that I am a beloved child of my Heavenly Parent. The prayer on the boat in Lake Mead was very special in that way. I came looking for a new start and I found it.” –Participant
“It was interesting to study the Divine Principle with young people who hadn’t heard much of it yet. Understanding the Divine Principle is still quite essential in order to understand the broader meaning of why we need the Messiah and why he needs a bride. One of my best experiences was during our Lake Mead outing. True Father’s fishing rods were still stored on the boat. At least that’s what the boat captain said. Either way, to pray on the boat felt very good. I felt True Father to be close by.” –Participant

“Through this seminar, I learned Divine Principle again, especially how hard God has been trying to save us from the beginning. How God has been suffering, and how we can return to a place of God’s hopes, our original state. I also gained insights into a more practical way of life, how to pray, etc. Now I feel the need to pray and ask God to show me how He has been with me.” –Participant
“My best experiences from the seminar were seeing the Divine Principle presented in broad, big picture way with practical applications, the opportunity to have stimulating discussions with bright, intelligent young people, and the open question/discussion session after Sunday lunch, where participants could share their questions and concerns. Rev. Compton does a good job presenting Divine Principle in a way that young people can relate to, and the International Peace Education Center is beautiful and amazing.” –Participant

“There is really no best experience for me. I loved it all. I grew up knowing that matrimony and purity are of great importance, but having it taught in a seminar is great. All of this strengthens my faith a lot more and it gives me hope. The teachings of True Parents are going to bring the world together. In terms of my favorite moments, I think the most beautiful moment in the seminar was praying at Lake Mead because it is allows a complete connection between your heart, nature and God, meeting wonderful brothers and sisters, and hearing about the Blessing.” –Participant
