Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Continental Chairman of FFWPU North America, visited two communities in the month of October, delivering one important Sunday message: the importance of maintaining our relationship with True Parents as the way to experience God’s love and share it with others as Tribal Messiahs.

“Today we are facing the same situation in this country because we are losing core values instead of counting on Heavenly Parent,” said Dr. Kim to the Chicago Family Church community, who welcomed our Continental Chairman on October 9. “And the reason we have a lot of confusion is because we don’t understand True Parents deeply enough. Then how can we understand True Parents? We must become True Parents, also known as Messiahs. Therefore, we must become Messiahs for the world.”

Rev. David Rendel, pastor of the Chicago Family Church, said, “The community is grateful for Dr. Kim’s leadership and his parental heart to all living in his hometown of Chicago. He provided insights into many hopes and concerns facing our international, national and local church development.”

On October 23, Dr. Kim reiterated the importance of becoming a confident Messiah in Washington, D.C. He spoke of Messiahship at the family and tribal level in order to liberate the family, tribe and the nation.

“Dr. Kim emphasized the importance of absolute unity with our True Parents and proclaiming True Parents by becoming Tribal Messiahs ourselves,” said Dr. Achille Acolatse, pastor of the D.C. Family Church. “True Parents have the solution to the world’s problems, and by uniting with them we can resolve the world’s problems and build the Kingdom of God.”

Below is the full transcript of Dr. Kim’s message, given at the Washington, D.C. Family Church on October 23.

Thank you for coming, and good morning everyone.

We have to accomplish so many things for the sake of True Parents and Heavenly Parent, and the community around here. True Mother is coming again. Do you know when True Mother last came to Washington, D.C.? In 2009, she was here with True Father. The members really wanted to testify to True Parents about why they are here, and what they are doing together with Washington leaders. We had a wonderful ceremony celebrating the publication of True Father’s autobiography. True Father really wanted to share with the Washington family, political leaders and community leaders, about why True Parents came for the sake of this country, America.

In the mid-1980s, when True Father came to the U.S. Senate, he asked, “Why did I come to America in 1973?” Actually, he first came in 1965; however, he proclaimed, “God called me to come over here and save this country because God loves this country so much, and God prepared for this country for over 2,000 years.” This is the outcome of 2,000 years of Christian history. We are one nation centered on God, preparing this beautiful land for the sake of God and for the sake of the Second Coming of the Messiah.

Now, as we look around today, does anybody see any of the Founding Fathers’ spirit? In school? In church? In our community centers? No. We are losing the spirit of True Parents, the spirit of Heavenly Parent and the spirit of Jesus Christ from 2,000 years ago. The Founding Fathers founded this country centered on God and they really wanted to try to build this country only for the sake of God and for the sake of God’s family and God’s people.

As you see, these days, not one presidential candidate mentions even one word of God. Where are we heading? Forty years ago, at the Washington Monument Rally, True Father warned America: “Repent today; tomorrow will be too late.” That was True Father’s main message. This country is going in the wrong direction. Everybody says so, everybody worries so much about the next four years, but as Blessed Central Families, we are not just worried about what’s going to happen tomorrow. We have a clear vision, clear ideas, clear education centering on True Parents. He left as his Will, “Let us become Messiahs. Let us become Tribal Messiahs centering on Divine Principle education.” This is the Will of True Father.

Think about it, we call our church the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. I know many parents here sometimes struggle and suffer because of their own children. Raise your hand if you think, “Oh, no, no, Dr. Kim, that’s wrong. I never suffer in any kind of relationship; I have a good relationship with my children.” Raise your hand. If that’s the case, I’d like you to come over here and give the sermon today. It’s very hard for children to understand. Before they reach parenthood, it’s very hard for them to understand parents.

When I was a young man, 24 years ago, before receiving the Marriage Blessing from True Father, I was a local church leader and one married man came to my church, my center, every evening and shared about struggling with his wife. I never understood that man; I would think, “Why are you struggling with your wife? Why did you marry?” It’s not because we’re looking for struggles, no. When you get married, you must build an ideal family with a joyful and happy family spirit. I didn’t understand. Before I was Blessed, or married, I decided that I would make my future wife the happiest woman in the world. But after I started my family, that dream disappeared. Now, every day, I try to bring that dream back.

I was travelling last week with my wife to the Las Vegas family church, and then we went to Reno. We celebrated the 17-year memorial Seonghwa service of Young Jin Moon, who passed away in Reno. I asked my wife, “Do you feel like you are the happiest woman in the world?” I take care of her very well. Her birthday was just two days prior, and I had prepared a cake and a nice restaurant dinner. “Yes, at this moment I feel like I am the happiest woman in world,” she said. I will ask again another time. She will answer the same way again. At least I try. I try. She said so once, so far. If I hear it twice, maybe three times, four times, five times and then all year long, then maybe I am very successful man.

This is what we are looking for—an ideal family. Before you get through this kind of suffering, or understanding, you cannot answer to people suffering in this way. When you deal with your children, you must think about when you were their age, not only about now, in a parental position. Study, from the Divine Principle, the Three Great Kingships, Four Great Realms of Love. We have these kinds of stages. If you don’t become a Messiah, you cannot understand True Father and True Mother. Who agrees? If anyone here believes themselves a Messiah, raise your hand. Only a few. We must be a Messiah. This is the reason True Father educated us until the last moment of his life on Earth: “You are the Messiah of your family, your tribe and your nations. Become a Messiah and you will understand my position as the Second Coming of the Messiah.” This is his message.

This is True Father and True Mother’s lifelong purpose of education: that you become a Messiah. Not just a teacher, not just community leaders, you are a Tribal Messiah. When you have confidence—“I am a Messiah”—then you fulfill your portion of responsibility as a Blessed Central Family. When we go to the spirit world and meet True Father, we cannot be proud to share, “I am a Blessed couple.” If we just say, “Father, I was Blessed by you in 2006,” or “I was Blessed by you in 1975,” unless you fulfilled your portion of responsibility as a Messiah, True Father will answer, “I know you recognize me, but I don’t recognize you.” This is our belief. This is the Unification movement, and now the Family Federation’s life of faith.

Become a Messiah and proclaim, “I am a Messiah!” This is True Father and True Mother’s very clear message today. Today, my sermon title is, “I Am the Way.” Many people believe that I am the Continental Chairman, but most people cannot believe that I am a Messiah. Can you believe me? If I proclaim at the Washington Monument, “I am a Messiah! Follow me. No one can enter Heaven except through me,” who would follow me? Maybe some of you would follow me. We have that kind of absolute faith. Why do we decide to have absolute faith, absolute love, and absolute obedience? Only God’s people can do that; even Heavenly Parent invested everything in His creation with absolute faith, absolute love, absolute obedience.

Many people do not really understand about absolute obedience; even Heavenly Parent, our Creator, He invested everything. He cannot change the Principle. This is absolute obedience, because the Creator created us with this Principle, and even the Creator cannot disobey His Principle, even though He is the Creator. Understanding True Parents, we must become a Messiah. This is my main message today.

When I heard True Mother say, “I am the Only Begotten Daughter,” I was shocked. Not because I didn’t understand that, because yes, this is exactly how God prepared True Father and True Mother—as the Only Begotten Son and the Only Begotten Daughter. When True Mother proclaimed, “I am the Only Begotten Daughter,” I felt very honored, my spirit was saying, “Yes, Father! Yes, you have that kind of commitment to saving the world, saving the 7.3 billion people.” This is the most difficult mission in the world. No one has proclaimed it before. How dare I can proclaim that I am the Messiah?

Our situation today is like the situations of Christians at Jesus’s time. What did Jesus teach? Love one another. He said that He would show the people the Kingdom of Heaven, but just like the people then, we’re not really following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Why are we confused these days? Why are we struggling these days? Here, there, we hear, “Today, the internet came up with these kinds of things. Yesterday I saw somebody saying this on the internet.” We are not a church like that. We are not a church that gossips about rumors. We’re not that kind of church. We are a church of Messiahs. Only we hear the Messiah. Only we hear God’s message. Only we deliver God’s message, not somebody who says, “I’ve got today’s rumor about this, this, this, this.” That’s not the Messiah’s church. We have Heavenly Parent. We have True Parents, the Second Coming of the Messiah. We are also called and proclaimed as “Messiahs.” We are a church of Messiahs, not a church of delivering this rumor here, that rumor there. No. We are not that kind of church.

What are the missions of True Parents? I’d like to share three points very briefly. What is the mission of the Messiah? Liberation.

In True Father’s speech, he says many times “I must liberate suffering from God”. In Unification history, since 1954, True Parents proclaimed many events and ceremonies, and most of them are liberation ceremonies. Liberate the suffering of God. Liberate the suffering of humankind. This is the first mission of the Messiah. Two thousand years ago, Jesus said, “Repent, and I will show you the Kingdom of God”. Repent, liberate yourself, and I will give you the eyes to see the God-centered Kingdom. In Unification history, True Father proclaimed and set a lot of liberation ceremonies centering on God, centering on True Parents, and centering on humankind.

This is our mission too. You see your spouse suffering; in order to become a family Messiah, you must take care of them. If there’s suffering in your children, as the eye of the Messiah, you have to look after your own children. This is the mission of the Messiah. If there’s suffering in your neighborhood, you have to look after it with the heart of a Messiah.

The mission is saving the people through Blessing activities. Think about what True Father and True Mother did. Not only earthly people were matched together and Blessed by True Parents, Blessed in the name of the Heavenly Parent. Even those in the spirit world were Blessed. Have you seen anybody being matched and Blessed with someone in the spirit world? This is True Parents. They did it as the Second Coming Messiah. We call the liberation ceremony our ancestors’ Blessing ceremony, for our ancestors in the spirit world. No other church, no other man and woman in the world, care for people like True Parents. This is the very serious mission as the Messiah.

For Tribal Messiahship, what is the mission? It’s the Blessing ceremony. We called for 160 at first, and now it’s the 430 couples Blessing. Your tribe, your neighbors, cannot see or enter the Kingdom of God on Earth and in Heaven without you. True Parents want to save 7.3 billion people, all human beings, not just Blessed Central Families, but all families here on earth and in spirit world. There are 700 billion people in the spirit world. This is the commitment of our dear True Parents. True Father in the spirit world and True Mother on the earth. How can we copy them? We must become a Messiah. “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

You have only one way. We don’t have many options, but to follow True Parents. You have only one way to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is by following True Parents. This is True Father’s message. After you become one and move the nation, the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth and in Heaven will be achieved by your unity with True Parents in front of God. Achieved by you. You, not True Parents, but by you uniting with True Parents.

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification. Why did True Father add “Unification”? Without unification, there is no peace. We need a unified spirit first, before we reach any kind of peace. How can you bring peace in your family? The unified spirit of husband and wife, and parents and children. There is no way other than the teachings of True Parents that solve our fundamental problems, which have come to you through historical connection. How can you resolve our fundamental problems? There’s no other way possible, but to follow True Parents. Follow means practicing the teachings of True Parents.

These days there’s confusion and we don’t know True Parents, we don’t know Divine Principle, even though we’ve follow True Parents for 30 years, 40 years. That doesn’t matter. It’s how much we understand, and how much we follow True Parents’ way of life that matters, so we can see and settle in the Kingdom of Heaven. Be a Messiah, not just at Sunday Service. Maybe Pastors will like it—“Oh, we have many people in attendance here today”. Be a Messiah. This is the mission of True Parents and all Messiahs, like each one of us. Become a Messiah. Become Jesus; otherwise you cannot be called a Christian. Become a Tribal Messiah. Become a Family Messiah. Become a National Messiah and a worldwide Messiah.

This is what True Parents are expecting of us, reaching the completion stage, and after the completion stage, the fourth era of God’s Blessing is for us to reach the Direct Dominion. This is what we call Cheon Il Guk.

We should be proud of ourselves as a Messiah. This is our mission; we have no other options. This is the message today from True Mother, and True Father in the spirit world.

This year, True Mother is coming to Washington, D.C. In 2009, she was here with True Father in order to meet the leaders around the Washington, D.C. area. For the first time, True Father really wanted to share about his autobiography to the leaders around the Washington, D.C. area, the Washington representatives of all the cities around the nation, around the world.

A lot of leaders would like to come to Washington, D.C. this time to meet True Mother here, for the launch of the International Association of Parliamentarians for Peace, IAPP. True Mother spoke with me last week when I was in Korea, and I shared a detailed plan to True Mother before she comes to the Washington, D.C. area. True Mother guided me, “True Parents were here for the last 50 years. People are looking for hope. People are looking for the Way. How can we overcome human suffering?”

America, we must lead the world. America, we must show great hope centering on True Parents to the 7.3 billion people of humankind. As I mentioned, True Parents are the hope. With True Parents’ teachings, we can solve the fundamental suffering and fundamental problems.
