Local Council Meets with FFWPU International Vice President
The Seattle Family Church welcomed Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, the FFWPU international vice president and North American continental director, on May 4, 2017.
Around 20 members of the Seattle Church Council and ministry leaders gathered at the Windermere mansion near Lake Washington to welcome Dr. Kim. Among the leaders present were Northwest Itinerant Worker Rev. Larry Krishnek, District 10 Pastor Rev. Inchan Park, and Seattle Family Church Pastor Nelson Mira. The participants had an intimate conversation with Dr. Kim over two hours with a dinner and snacks.
Dr. Kim started the conversation by praising the wonderful nature and fresh air of Seattle. “When I breathe, I can feel that the fresh air gives me rejuvenation and a clear mind. Maybe that’s why in Seattle there are many successful companies with people filled with wonderful ideas and creativity.”
Dr. Kim didn’t forget to emphasize what blessed families need nowadays. “The most important thing is how confident we are about our belief that True Parents are the Second Coming of the Messiah,” he said. “If our confidence is stronger than the challenges we are undergoing now, we will overcome.”
Dr. Kim reported a lot of good news about the providence. “After this, I am going to visit Japan for the follow-up of the [Universal Peace Federation] International Leadership Conference. I am going to meet congressmen in Japan together with delegations from the United States and Korea,” he said. “And True Mother will visit Japan soon and have a rally, as well as meeting politicians.”
Dr. Kim continued: “As the providence moves forward and the situation changes, we have to change accordingly. I do Hoon Dok Hwe every day and never stop growing spiritually. One elder Asian scholar said the high point of his life occurred between the ages of 65 and 75.
“And as you know, the U.S. Headquarters changed, too. A few years ago True Mother told us that the U.S. movement no longer would receive financial support from another country. It was not easy, but now the U.S. movement is self-sufficient. Many U.S. church businesses are now making a profit. Even the Manhattan Center, which was never profitable in the last 30 years, is now making money. We all have to change and grow.”
Alena Avramenko, the chair of the Seattle Church Council, later said, “I felt True Parents’ spirit was there. And I really appreciate Dr. Kim for mentioning about going back to the root. We always need to be connected to True Parents and attend True Parents. That’s what our community and young people need.”
The regional FFWPU USA District Pastor, Rev. In Chan Park, expressed his gratitude for Dr. Kim’s visit, and for a “great message to the church members in Seattle.” He added, “I believe that thanks to [Dr. Kim’s] visit, activities for vision 2020 will be moving forward quickly.”
Subsequent to his visit, Dr. Kim set off to Japan where True Mother will soon be speaking in Tokyo on May 14. Stay tuned for coverage of True Mother’s speech.
