Oklahoma Community Cleans Local Women and Children’s Shelter

On Saturday, November 23, the Oklahoma Family Church hosted a public service project at a local women and children’s shelter in Norman, Oklahoma. Eric White, Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM) coordinator for Oklahoma, and Guinyu Ngoran, a young Unificationist, led a group of friends, coworkers and community members in cleaning the shelter.

The Norman shelter, run by the Women’s Resource Center (WRC), provides temporary housing for victims of domestic violence, hosting over 1,000 women and children every year. The WRC also provides legal assistance and medical exams for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. The work the volunteers did was extremely beneficial, as the shelter does not have enough funding to facilitate regular cleaning. Volunteers thoroughly cleaned bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens throughout the home. 

As the day of service came to a close, the Oklahoma Family Church community invited volunteers to their local watch party for the Peace Starts With Me Clergy Rally: A New Hope for a Heavenly Unified World on December 28.
