Nipsey Hussle Vigil Prompts Call for Peace

The American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) organized a prayer vigil on April 4 for American rapper and songwriter Nipsey Hussle, who was actively working for peace in his local community.

“It’s important for the world to know that peace starts with the individual,” said ACLC National Co-Chairman Dr. Luonne Rouse. “We are here to give that message because it matters.”

Nipsey was shot outside his clothing store in South Los Angeles on Sunday. Several Christian pastors and Unificationist leaders offered sincere and heartfelt prayers for peace and healing. Hundreds of fans and supporters came to pay their respects with prayer, gifts, and momentos. The tragedy prompted a call for greater peace-building in the community.

“The violence will stop and the hatred will cease when each one of us starts seeing the divinity in each other,” said Archbishop George Augustus Stallings, Jr. of the Imani Temple in Washington, D.C.

Nipsey, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, grew up exposed to gang violence and used his success to improve and revitalize his community by initiating efforts with LAPD to stop gun and gang violence.

“When you have somebody like Nipsey Hussle, who had meetings scheduled with the chief of police to talk about peace and then he gets gunned down during this weekend, that just shows that the message is urgent,” said LAPD Captain John Shah.

Nipsey also recently launched a charity STEM center, 2 Big 2 Fail, in the Crenshaw district for inner city youth and planned to expand it across the country.

“I think the biggest thing that speaks is his heart for the community and everything that he was trying to reach out to do, to even help the children,” said fan, Sheri Brassfield.

“Nipsey represented a large group of people,” said another fan Layth Mansour. “He always rapped about coming from nothing and getting off the streets and spreading positivity and just doing well.”

A donation on behalf of Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founder of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), will be made to Nipsey’s foundation at the Peace Starts With Me rally on April 6 at City of Refuge megachurch in Gardena, CA.

“If you look in our community, you see some people who are lost and they’re looking for hope,” said Bishop Tracy Price. “They’re looking for peace and they need a fresh voice, and we believe Mother Moon is that voice for this season.”

    God always sends a representative person to speak His Truth in the right time. He sent the Prophets when it was the time. Today’s day, we need guidance and it is a crucial time. He has sent this His Holy Spirit through Mother Moon to illuminate our paths, bringing
    a call for peace starting with me. Let’s unite and scream “peace” from the bottom of our hearts. Let’s bring peace from within. Let’s hear the voice of God, He is talking to us from within our original minds.
    Let’s become one with Mother Moon and chase away all that doesn’t come from God.
    LET’S MAKE PEACE, LET’S BE PEACE. AND LET’S SPREAD PEACE.
