Networking for Peace at the 2015 World Summit
The 2015 World Summit, a gathering of leaders of various faiths and backgrounds, took place in Korea from August 27-31. In the video above, Dr. Thomas Walsh, President of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) International, gives a report on the conference and its implications.

The World Summit was closely intertwined with the inaugural Sunhak Peace Prize, of which the laureates presented at a plenary session on August 28. The prize is an annual opportunity to highlight True Parents’ legacy by the quality of the laureates that are selected, and this year it focused on the ocean, food security, climate change and the environment. President Anote Tong of Kiribati and Dr. Modadugu Vijay Gupta, an Indian fisheries scientist, received this year’s award, and their involvement in the World Summit brought the conference a fresh perspective on some of the challenges facing the environment in different parts of the world.

On August 29, the conference continued discussing challenges facing Europe and the Middle East, as well as special sessions on “Women, the Family and Peace,” Pacific Asia and religious values for peace and development. Participants attended the third anniversary of True Father’s Seonghwa memorial program and luncheon, where they offered gifts to True Mother, and finished with a farewell banquet on August 30.

Dr. Walsh described this summit, at which many US politicians were present, as an inspiration for a “new start as the American Unification movement.” He urged everyone to think about how we can transform this nation, and to stay active and up-to-date in current affairs by watching the political debates for the upcoming presidential election.
