Las Vegas Family Church Serves Communities
In the month of April, the Las Vegas Family Church (LVFC) gathered in different parts of the district where they reached out to their community in a form of gathering and service. Below are two of the recent activities from the community.
On April 28, Unificationists involved in the Family Education and Empowerment Foundation (FEEF) program served food to the homeless and disabled at a soup kitchen at the Salvation Army.
A mother and daughter team prepared the salad and desserts with the Army cadets. Along with another person, they helped with the cleaning as they worked with the cadets in leaving a gracious heart to the people in need. They left the people there feeling loved.
Then, as part of the Tribal Messiah Activity in Henderson, Nevada, Rev. Andy and Lydia Compton held their third monthly program with another exciting neighborhood birthday party. The purpose of gathering everyone was to strengthen the bonds of heart in the neighborhood. 19 new guests out of the 41 visitors, including 5 people of the LVFC joined with their families on this joyful evening.
After dinner, which included cake, ice cream, and a toast to those who had birthdays or wedding anniversaries that month, the adults gathered inside the house, where they introduced themselves to the group and listened to the reason behind this gathering. Rev. Compton even mentioned that True Parents were the key inspirations behind this. They watched a short video, entitled Your Heart Knows the Truth and to continue strengthening the familial relationship within the community, Rev. Compton invited people for a fishing trip on Lake Mead. Mrs. Compton will continue to conduct an ongoing weekly conversation which focuses on values and means to strengthen the bonds of heart in the neighborhood.
After the party ended, a group of seven or eight people continued their conversation. One neighbor who had brought his family a couple of years ago from Iraq, told about his experiences there and expressed gratitude for living in America. At the end of the formal program, Mrs. Compton handed out invitations for the May birthday barbecue to be held again at the Compton’s home on May 12 at 6pm.
