LA Family Church Presents “My World n I – Life Talks”
Report submitted by project advocate Carol Takhar.
The Los Angeles Family Church community kick started their new series of panel luncheons created as a tribal messiah project entitled “My World n I – Life Talks” on Saturday, August 11. These luncheons will provide an opportunity for both Unificationists and guests to learn from the wisdom of panelists who are distinguished leaders from the Unification tradition, major faiths and professional fields. This first event was a great success, bringing together more than 70 attendees and 15 volunteers.
The panel discussions will cover universal and fundamental topics that affect our spiritual lives while introducing the teachings of True Parents including the Marriage Blessing. Additionally, each luncheon will celebrate cultures and food from around the world to promote global peace. After the luncheon is concluded, a one- to three-hour Divine Principle seminar will be offered.
The theme for the August 11 event was “Live Your Purpose, Values, and Dreams.” The program opened with a quote from True Father read by emcee Angelika Buczynski: “The ability to give and receive love may be as vital to human life as breathing, yet true love does not come naturally. Rather, it must be taught, learned, and practiced.”
Following a Japanese lunch and a performance of a beautiful Japanese song The Wind Awaits by Rebecca Zinke and John Holmes, the panel discussion began.
Pastor George Kazakos from the LA Family Church moderated the 40-minute discussion. The panelists included Dr. Eva Benson, who has a PhD in nursing and is an oncology researcher and a member of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), Timothy Bowles, a well-respected attorney in human rights from the Church of Scientology, and Nate Windman who has a master’s degree in sociology and is an educator and national Divine Principle lecturer.
The “My World n I – Life Talks” are a social-educational opportunity for all to enjoy, while learning and connecting with others through meeting in a neutral environment. One participant noted, “Even though the panelists had such different backgrounds, they universally could all talk about something that we could relate to, which is our value, purpose and our dreams.” The talks are designed especially for those who share the mission of tribal messiahship, for those searching for a higher truth, and for those seeking a Marriage Blessing.
The next luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, September 8.
