Il Shim Graduation in Washington, DC
Contributed by Dr. Achille Acolatse
In a joyful graduation ceremony, six young Unificationists completed the Il Shim program on Sunday, April 28 at the Washington, DC Family Church. The graduation ceremony, which concluded ten weeks of education and growth, was attended by participants’ families and the church community.
Il Shim is Korean for “one heart” and helps young Unificationists grow their life of faith, deepen their understanding of Unificationist traditions, and discover ways to serve their local communities. Il Shim curriculum also emphasizes developing parent-child relationships and creating a space to discuss important topics such as life and faith.
The program was initiated by the community’s local pastor Dr. Achille Acolatse, while the first session was led by Kaeleigh Moffitt, National Youth Ministry Coordinator for FFWPU USA. Constance Gabb, who is the local Il Shim coordinator, led the remainder of the course.
Congratulations to Il Shim participants on your graduation!
