This year, March 24 marks the 61st True Parents Day, a major Unificationist holiday, and a day for God as our Heavenly Parent to experience joy with His children.
True Parents Day was the first holy day established on April 10, 1960, by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founders of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), and affectionately known as True Parents. True Parents Day represents the day when God gave us the blessing to love the world with His parental love as the true parent.
At the True Parents Day celebration in 1977, True Father said, “Through the fall of man, there was no fulfillment here on earth, and all joy was lost. Consequently, there was no day of joy for God, no day of the true parents, no day of the true children, and no day of all things.”
In this quote, True Father describes the ideal of the family, saying,
“By having children, couples can build a true family in which God fully lives and in which God’s true love is completely practiced and expressed in four different forms: conjugal love, parental love, children’s love, and siblings’ love…
“When all members of a true family unite with one another this way, they become one in heart…
“This provides the best education on how to relate to various people outside of the family. Hence a true family is an indispensable school of true love…”
Ultimately, parents reflect God’s love. Because God’s heart possesses both masculine and feminine qualities, the parental love of a father and mother are the best expressions of that heart. The role of a parent holds great importance in shaping children’s lives.
True Parents have made it their life mission to stand with each other and hold the hands of humanity to set a foundation as a new beginning where all of us can reach for an ideal family rooted in the original purpose of our lives. It is important to remember how much value True Parents have always placed in these special holy days,
