Chicago and Milwaukee Meet the President

FFWPU USA President Rev. Richard Buessing and his wife Mrs. Marjorie Buessing continued to engage with local Unificiationist communities in America on December 9 and 10, visiting Milwaukee and Chicago. 

At Milwaukee, the Buessings shared a delicious lunch with 20 Unificationists from around the area. There was a family atmosphere in the room as the Unificationists listened to one another’s hearts regarding the Unification movement and their personal lives. One young Unificationist remarked, “It was so refreshing to see Rev. and Mrs. Buessing share so naturally and lovingly as a couple.”

Even with just 20 other people, Mrs. Buessing was amazed by the beauty in the diversity of the community: “It was so moving, “said Mrs. Buessing. “There were people who came from Japan, Australia, Sweden—all over the world—to support True Parents’ mission in America.”  

Later that night, the Buessings made their way to Chicago, where Unificationists from as far as Grand Rapids, Michigan gathered to grow closer to the national president. Many younger Unificationists from the Grand Rapids Family Church gained inspiration from the Buessings’ many personal experiences following True Parents over the past 40 years. “One thing I will carry with me is [the Buessings’] encouragement to us, as young people, to use our energy for a greater purpose,” said one young adult.

The Unificationists then gave their love back to the Buessings by performing African songs, displaying the grace of a culture of hyojeong (heart of filial piety).

As the main speaker for Sunday service the next day, Rev. Buessing shared to an overflowing congregation about his life growing up on a dairy farm and the disciplines involved in returning blessings to God as taught by his mother.

The warmth and sincerity of the Buessings was evident throughout the weekend, concluding their trip with an informal “Coffee with the President” meeting. Grateful for the Buessings’ visit, the community showered the Buessings with gifts, including matching winter hats and mugs of Chicago, to remind them of their unforgettable visit.
