Generation Peace Academy Impacts Lives Abroad
One of the most exciting and empowering components of the year-long youth leadership training of Generation Peace Academy (GPA) is the international service module. Teams of participants this year were sent to Panama, the Dominican Republic, the Philippines and Peru to take part in service projects that will literally change lives. This video highlights the exciting projects in Peru that this year’s participants took part in.
With the support of Peruvian FFWPU members and under the leadership of GPA Director Roland Platt, 25 young men and women completed beautification and renovation projects in Lima, the capital, helped to build an orphanage in the southern city of Arequipa, and supported the construction of a church building near Lake Titicaca.
Throughout all their travels, GPA volunteers had opportunities to be exposed to diverse cultures, people, economic and political situations and geography. Whether through working hard at their service projects, trying to communicate in another language or bringing smiles to children and senior citizens through song and dance, the GPA participants undoubtedly left a lasting impact in the communities they visited, while gaining life-enriching experiences.
GPA continues to serve communities near and far. In late April through May, groups of GPA participants will participate in outreach programs throughout America, joining the nationwide revival campaign. Their dedication and commitment to the legacy of our True Parents are an example of how life should always be: leaving behind an impact of love.
