Community Celebrates First Ever Spanish Sunday Service
On Sunday, December 4, 44 adults and seven children gathered to attend a church service for Spanish-speaking families at the Las Vegas Family Church. The morning began with words from Ms. Karina Acosta, who emceed the event. “Welcome to our first ever Spanish Service in Las Vegas!” she said as the congregation erupted in applause. It was clear that the audience had been waiting for this day.
After her opening remarks, Ms. Acosta introduced the band. The crowd joined in to sing both congregational and Christmas songs. Then Pastor John Arias delivered a message entitled “I Won’t Walk Without God Anymore,” inspired by the biblical story of Jonah. The morning ended with a group photo and shouts of Victoria! (victory in Spanish).
After the service, guests stayed for refreshments and expressed their excitement for the weeks and months ahead. Pastor Arias plans to continue offering church services for Spanish-speaking Unificationists and guests. “[I hope] our Spanish Service will grow in numbers,” he said.
