First Advanced Divine Principle Webinar Takes Off

The first of a series of live, advanced Divine Principle webinars, led by Dr. Michael Hentrich, was completed on January 27, 2018.

The 12-day webinar covered key topics of the Principle in sometimes non-traditional ways and offered many points of internal guidance. More than 50 participants from six countries signed up for this debut webinar, but as participants shared recordings of the sessions with their friends, hundreds more viewed some classes.

Participants had a lot to say about their experience:

For Dr. Hentrich, who was conducting a webinar for the first time, it was as much of a learning experience as it was for the participants. The beginning was plagued with challenging technical glitches, especially with the sound quality. “I was going crazy, pulling my hair out – what little I still have,” Dr. Hentrich said. “I knew if I didn’t get the technical problems solved, people would give up and leave.” Fortunately, with the help of outstanding Zoom tech support, the dragons were all defeated, and the rest of the sessions went smoothly.

The idea was to provide Dr. Hentrich’s unique, live, advanced Divine Principle webinar, but timed to fit a particular country or time zone. This inaugural webinar was aimed at North America, which spans multiple time zones. This made the time of the broadcast somewhat late in the evening for East Coasters. But, due to the enthusiastic response and appreciation of the participants, a repeat webinar is being planned soon, which will be broadcast a little earlier, especially for the sake of Easterners in the U.S. and Canada. Webinars for other countries and time zones are also in the works.

The advantage of the live webinar is, of course, that participants can ask questions and offer comments. An additional challenge for Dr. Hentrich was the confinement to a chair in front of the camera. He is well-known for wearing a wireless ear mic and walking around the stage and among the participants while teaching. “I am half Italian. I need to express myself and move around,” he said. But, having to sit in a chair, stationary, in front of the camera was a new experience and one he had to adjust to. “I can’t say I like webinars over live, face-to-face teaching, but this is where the people are. We have to go this way,” Dr. Hentrich said.
