Living the Legacy Essay Competition

On August 19, 2016, Unificationists and friends from around the world will observe the 4th anniversary of True Father’s Seonghwa (ascension). As we take this time to remember our True Father and reflect on True Parents’ ever-growing legacy, the National Ministry Team invites you to participate in the 2016 Essay Competition commemorating True Father’s Seonghwa anniversary, by which we celebrate one of the most powerful pieces of True Parents’ legacy: their words. Cham Bumo Gyeong

To access the most profound messages by True Parents, look no further than the Cham Bumo Gyeong, the third volume of the Holy Scriptures after the Cheon Seong Gyeong and Pyeong Hwa Gyeong. Published last year, on the occasion of the third anniversary of True Father’s Seonghwa, the Cham Bumo Gyeong contains True Parents’ life course described in their own words.

True Father’s words sparked change in the world and have gone down in history as the most genuine and inspiring calls to center our lives on God. True Mother’s words are filled with the spirit of love for all God’s children and inspire the heart to know how to reach out with love. The Cham Bumo Gyeong contains some of True Parents’ most powerful messages and reflections, including those on historical turning points in God’s providence in America, including the Yankee Stadium Rally, Washington Monument Rally, and more.

Competition Details

Write a 250-500 word review of the Cham Bumo Gyeong, and you could win a $500 scholarship prize! You can write a review of your favorite section, or the volume as a whole. Qualified entries are 250-500 words in English, including both a review of the scripture as well as a short personal reflection or testimony.

Your audience is the religious public. In addition to winning a prize, top entries will be published on familyfed.org and shared with True Mother. There will be a total of nine winners, three in each of three age categories: youth (ages 0-12), young adult (ages 13-18) and adult (ages 19 and above). 

The deadline to submit an entry is the day of True Father’s Seonghwa anniversary, August 19, by 11:59pm EST. If you submit more than one entry, only your most recent entry will be considered. Winners will be announced by the end of August on familyfed.org.

Prizes

The first prize in each age category will be a $500 scholarship award. Second place winners in each category will receive a $300 scholarship award, and third place winners will receive a $200 scholarship award. The top 50 entries will win a $10 Starbucks gift card.
