Clifton Family Church Holds a Spring Recital

Young adult Unificationist Naria McGee hosted a Spring Recital at the Clifton Family Church on May 21, 2016. The purpose of the recital was to provide local musicians an opportunity to showcase their talents in their own community and to collect donations for the Camp Sunrise Scholarship Fund, which supports families who cannot cover the costs of the annual summer program for Unificationist youth.
Naria was inspired to organize the recital after attending the Global Top Gun Workshop in Korea in February. There were nine performances by 11 musicians, including Naria, who each played a piece of their choice. The majority of the performers played violin or viola while the rest played guitar, flute, cello, or piano. While most of the musicians gave solo performances, one family played as a trio for the recital finale.

There was also a wide age range among the performers, the youngest being eight years old and the oldest nearing their sixties. On average, the musicians at the recital had played for 10-15 years. There were even a couple of performers who, though still novices, impressed everyone in the audience with their musical skill.

The recital empowered the performers and also encouraged others who did not have a chance to perform to join in the next time a recital is held. Naria is certainly looking to host more recitals in the future and expects that the next will most probably be in the fall.
