Cheongpyeong Vice President Visits the Family History Library
On October 31, Rev. Myeong-gwan Lee, Vice President of Cheongpyeong, along with Rev. In Pyo Moon and Mr. Ryuichi Kishimoto visited the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, UT as a part of True Mother’s desire to create a history of our Blessed families for the Cheon Bo Won in Cheongpyeong. They were accompanied by local Pastors Mike and Wendy Stovall, and the local KEA representative, Rev. SungJo Hwang.
The gathering was hosted by Rob Howell, Manager of Interfaith Relations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who organized a tour of the library and a visit to Temple Square. The group met Rob Howell and two sister missionaries, one from America and the other from South Korea, at the Joseph Smith Memorial building and walked through Temple Square. A brief explanation was given of the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and what it meant to them to serve in a mission. The group visited the Tabernacle where the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square practices every Sunday, and was blessed with a demonstration of its amazing acoustics.
Following the tour, a PowerPoint presentation was given by Jason Harrison of the Family History Library about the history of the development of the genealogy research and archival efforts in progress at the Library. The group had a chance to see large collections of historical manuscripts and books on the “Asia” floor. Rev. Lee showed a hands-on demonstration of the computerized family search website.
After enjoying a delicious lunch provided by Rev. Hwang at a local Japanese restaurant, everyone visited the Salt Lake Family Church and the nearby Holy Ground, then visited Rev. Hwang’s home to greet his wife and children and to explore the town.
