Charity Concert for Germantown Education
On July 27, the Philadelphia Family church paired up with Men Who Care, a non-profit community-based organization, and the Julian Hartwell project, a quaint local jazz band, to throw a charity concert to fund the restoration of the George Washington Middle School auditorium. The purpose for the event was to strive to enhance the quality of life in the community through restoring and empowering youth and seniors to become responsible citizens of Germantown.
Each organization had its own responsibility to make the event a success. The Julian Hartwell project provided flyers, tickets and the musical entertainment; the Philadelphia Family Church provided the venue, decorations and plastic cups and plates; and Men Who Care prepared the food, desserts, beverages and volunteers to help with registration. Through all these efforts, the event was a huge success raising approximately $800.
Philadelphia Pastor Shota Iwasaki took this opportunity to complete some tribal messiah work and offered the Holy Juice to Joe Budd, founder and director of Men Who Care, and his wife Elena to bless their 26 years of marriage. Pastor Iwasaki announced, “One key to the success of an organization is the unity of the couple.” Mr. Budd was so moved by these words and asked all the participants to take the Holy Juice together.
