Webinar: Intentional Unificationist Communities Across America

Many students and parents are concerned about having a spiritual environment of support after finishing high school or a gap year program, especially as students move away from home to attend university. For students seeking a community to connect to as they transition into college, professional life, and so on, there are several options across the country. As a response to students’ inquiries of “What’s out there for me?,” the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) America reached out to some known “intentional” communities to discover how they operate and the resources that they offer.
Most of these intentional communities are extensions of Unification or CARP centers. However, each has their own story and method of management and development. Although each has been operating by their own district and local jurisdictions, each community has developed best practices through everyday experiences. What’s great is that now, with this unifying network, communities are able to share their best practices together to create even better experiences for young adults.
These different communities and their best practices are being highlighted each month. The first session on August 1, 2015 showcased Hearst House in the Bay Area, California with Pastor Kevin Thompson, house parents Andy and Laurie Shoultz, and student representatives David and Sarah Lapres.
The next session is this Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 4-5pm Pacific time (7-8pm Eastern time) and will feature the Pasadena House in Southern California with Pastor George Kazakos.
Other communities to be highlighted in the next few months include Las Vegas and Columbus, Ohio. If you would like to stay connected with this network, whether you are building an intentional community or want to, send an email to teresa@carplife.org
There is power and magic when we are able to share the best of ourselves to help others. Together, we can support young adults in finding the perfect place to live and thrive.
