CARP LV Shares Divine Principle at Monthly Retreat

On Friday November 20, the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) Las Vegas welcomed 12 local young Unificationists and University of Las Vegas (UNLV) students to their monthly weekend retreat.
The evening program began with a family dinner followed by several ice breakers. The participants were organized into five different groups, each with a distinct team name and cheer. The newly-created teams competed against one another in different games and activities as a way to build a stronger team identity.
The last activities brought the energy down a few levels to a more focused and reflective atmosphere. Each participant was tasked to use scissors, glue and construction paper to recreate an image while blindfolded. In later rounds, CARP staff or “guardian angels” could help the participants complete the task.
“In the first round I had to do everything myself and I couldn’t finish,” commented Nathaniel Fish, a participant, “but when I was helped I understood that when I worked with others, I could finish in a shorter amount of time.”
Afterward, participants received personalized gifts which CARP members had been making the past few days. Then, staff member Akira Watanabe closed the night with a short talk, challenging the participants to search for a deeper meaning during their time at the retreat. The participants said goodnight to one another and retired to their homes to prepare for the Divine Principle lectures to be given the next day by Rev. Andrew Compton, who would also facilitate the upcoming 7-day Divine Principle Workshop in Las Vegas.
