CARP LV Invites NYC Churches to the Garden
On July 9, 2017, the Las Vegas chapter of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) united with local Unification communities to spread the word about True Mother’s upcoming message to different churches in New York City.
The CARP members split up into four areas – the Bronx, Harlem, Queens, and Brooklyn. Within each community, most of them were separated into individual teams, with one CARP member in each and several local Unificationists.
Through their mobilization efforts, the teams were able to witness the fire and the Holy Spirit of the Christian communities. “I was very moved, actually,” said Kailey Teo. “They had such an incredible spirit and passion for Jesus and the Bible.” Although the groups inevitably were met with rejection at times, they proudly promoted True Parents and the Madison Square Garden event in all situations.
The CARP members were successful in bringing more people and congregations to Peace Starts With Me. Marcus Fuller expressed that one of the Unificationists on his team was able to share about the July 15 event to a congregation they had never met, resulting in 35 more people signing up for the event. Chungbom Katayama, another CARP member, volunteered to share to a Christian congregation about who True Parents are, and the significance of True Mother’s upcoming message at the Garden. “I was amazed by the foundation True Parents laid,” Chungbom said of the experience. “All these Christian churches were very embracing and even promoting for their members to come to the Garden. Everyone is supporting True Mother.”
Ryota Naito, a young CARP member, shared that it was a very valuable experience for the young people because they could see a lot of their investment bringing hope to the elder Unificationists. Longtime Unificationists expressed their gratitude, feeling relieved knowing that there are young, passionate people who are leading the future of the Unificationist movement.
A few of the CARP teams later decided on their own to reach out to even more churches than they had originally planned. Although the young CARP members faced challenging moments as they garnered support for Peace Starts With Me, the overall experience was one that trained their hearts and revived their spirits.
There is still time left to invite your family, friends, or people in your local community. Download flyers, postcards, and more for free to share about Peace Starts With Me today!
