A Visit to the Peace Center
On July 23, 43 Japanese Unificationists from Okayama, Japan visited Cheon Hwa Gung and the International Peace Education Center in Las Vegas on their first day of a pilgrimage to trace True Parents’ footsteps in Las Vegas and Arizona. This would be the second such pilgrimage this month.
They started in Cheon Hwa Gung, where they listened to Rev. Ken Doo’s presentation on the history and background of everything that was built there. Rev. Doo especially shared the motivation behind True Father’s selection of Las Vegas as the representative place that True Parents had to recreate in order to restore the world which Adam and Eve could not build. Many of the Japanese visitors were in tears as they heard Rev. Doo’s explanation.
After the inspiring talk, the pilgrims took photos of the property and were able to help the ‘Shining City project,’ as the mission to restore Las Vegas is called, and the other missionaries there by holding a t-shirt fundraiser. They then proceeded to the International Peace Education Center, where Ms. Grendel Lyn Lorenzana gave an overview of the facility and also invited them to its grand opening in December.
Due to heightened construction activity at this time, visitors could not enter the construction grounds anymore. In spite of this, the pilgrims made an effort to shoot photos of the site. For the rest of the day, they went sightseeing at the nearby Aria and Lake Mead, and also plan to visit Sedona and the Grand Canyon.
Although their visit may be short, we hope that they and our many brothers and sisters around the world will come to understand the value of the True Parents’ investment and goals in Las Vegas, and that we can all become true citizens of this chosen city.
