10,000 Paper Cranes Welcome Mother of Peace
Unificationists from across the country have welcomed Mother of Peace Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon to America with an incredible gift of more than 10,000 handmade paper cranes representing thousands of prayers for her well-being and to victoriously establish world peace.
“Each crane represents a prayer for Mother Moon and the world,” said Rev. John Jackson, Southwest regional director of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA and pastor of the Dallas Family Church. “For almost three months, we got more and more inspired and started receiving cranes from all over our area. Many people prayed over them and worked on them collectively, and they have been offered with the heart of this being a gift from America.”
Rev. Jackson and his wife collected approximately 10,200 cranes made by Unificationists from more than seven states, including Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and others. The inspiration for the cranes came from Dallas Unificationist Reiko Oshika, who wanted to honor Dr. Moon’s visit to the U.S. for the upcoming fourth Rally of Hope on December 5. The paper cranes also symbolize Dr. Moon, whose name “Hak Ja Han” translates to ‘crane child of Korea’ in Korean.
“Many Unificationists have developed a kinship for origami and Reiko Oshika loves it and is really good at it,” said Rev. Jackson. “Since we know Mother Moon is always on the move and doesn’t rest, we are praying for her health, as well as other people. We also gave these paper cranes to people with illnesses and those experiencing hardship.”
Hundreds of paper cranes were brought to local police departments in Texas and Oklahoma, and a thousand cranes were delivered to the widow of a native Peace Chief of the Arapaho and Cheyenne tribes, among other recipients. Rev. Jackson and his wife then drove to Las Vegas on December 1 to deliver two six-foot pillars of 5,100 colorful paper cranes, which were displayed in Dr. Moon’s suite at the International Peace Education Center (IPEC).
“The crane is a symbol of longevity, filial piety, eternal love, and oneness,” said Rev. Jackson. “The cranes were finished just in time for Mother Moon’s arrival and it was amazing. She was deeply moved and smiling, saying how beautiful all of the cranes were.”
“We really want Mother Moon to feel us offering our hearts on behalf of this country,” continued Rev. Jackson, “and to know that America loves her and we are all in.”
Dr. Moon, co-founder of FFWPU alongside her late husband Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, will join multiple foreign dignitaries and heads of state from around the world as keynote speaker of the upcoming Rally of Hope. Initiated by Dr. Moon in August, the online monthly program promoting unity and global peace has brought together millions of people worldwide to date.
