Striped Bass Tourney Starts Saturday in Bayonne
Spend a day on the Hudson River fishing for striped bass, enjoying one of True Father’s favorite pastimes and winning up to $3,000 for your catch! Upwards of $5,000 in prize money and fishing equipment will be awarded to the winners of the Peace King Cup Fishing Tournament, which runs from May 3 to May 16.
“The 2014 Peace King Cup Fishing Tour nament is one of the myriad ocean-based programs that True Father initiated to give people the opportunity to interact with the marine environment,” said Clint Woods, an FFWPU minister. “In so doing, they experience the wonder, power and harmony of the ocean. Through the Peace King Cup, the very youngest to the very oldest can bond and share in fishing, fun and fellowship.”
Boats will depart the Elco Boat Basin at 50 Marina Drive, Bayonne, New Jersey, 07002, at 7:30 a.m. each day, and most will return to the dock around 4:00 p.m., according to tournament organizer and boat operator Kensaku Takahashi. The fishing ground stretches from Half Moon Bay in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, to Lower New York Bay including Raritan Bay.
The daily boat fee is $80, and the contest entry fee per participant is $40. Boats with bait and tackle can be booked at the tournament registration site. Participants are welcome to fish as many days as they like during the 14-day competition, by using either the boats available through FFWPU or the boats operated by the Ocean Church-authorized captains.
