Shehaqua Family Camp: A Place to Be Yourself
“I feel like I’m coming home when I go on vacation,” is how parents described their feelings about Shehaqua Family Camp. “Shehaqua is a place where I can be myself,” wrote a teenager in his reflection. Now in its 20th year, the Shehaqua Family has been providing a safe place for families to enjoy God-centered relationships and the purity of nature ever since it started as a grassroots effort by a small group of Unificationist families.
Three 5-day programs take place every year in late July and early August in rustic cabins at Camp Shehaqua in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. Shehaqua camps offer families spiritually enriching activities including presentations, sports, crafts, music and plenty of free time to hang out together. The presentations are based on moral education and include age-appropriate Bible stories for younger kids and basic Divine Principle for older children and youth. A variety of unique educational programs—including the popular Health Retreat (during Week 1)—is offered for adult and young adult participants.
What sets Shehaqua Family Camp apart from most other camps is a program designed for the whole family, not just children or youth of a certain age. Presentations, discussions, and some of the activities are separated by age groups, but families also have a chance to bond among each other, creating an extended family feel. Keeping true to the Shehaqua spirit of community, every camper is asked to lend a helping hand in the everyday operations of the camp. The more we all chip in, the more we all enjoy the power of community!
Come and create memories during Family Fun night, talent night, campfires, swimming at the pool, hiking, and more. Strengthen your family ties and let your kids form friendships that can last a lifetime.
