A Unique Opportunity to Study in Korea

Imagine a place where children explore and grow in their faith while also learning the language and culture of True Parents. The General Orientation Program (GOP) in Korea has provided an immersive cultural and spiritual experience for young people for over 30 years.
When your child enrolls in the GOP 2015-2016 school year, he or she will have the opportunity to learn the Korean language, experience Korean food, culture and lifestyle and visit places where True Parents carried out their providential course.
Students between 12-14 years old are invited to participate in this unique program that provides academic and experiential learning within a spiritually nurturing community. The GOP staff is dedicated to providing a warm and safe living environment in which your son or daughter can thrive academically as well as spiritually. Students often come to grow their knowledge of the Korean language, and they will ultimately grow in heart and spirit as well.
This year, the program is excited to open registration with a new Principal, Yeon-Ah Moon. Since her appointment at the end of last year, she has taken a great interest in the students and the program, and worked with staff to strengthen it. This year also brings about the unique opportunity for students to meet with True Mother and participate in activities while she is in Korea.

Harmonious Living
At GOP, students live and study with others from different cultures and backgrounds. Students learn to take ownership over their faith by broadening and deepening their understanding of God’s will and heart.
Rev. Olaleye Alao and his wife Takako are the dorm parents for the next GOP school year. Dorm parents play a critical role in providing a nurturing environment for all students. Rev. Alao has been serving as national leader of Nigeria for over eight years, and Mrs. Alao is an experienced teacher and counselor.
Together, students and staff learn to inherit a culture of heart through caring for one another.

Academic Excellence
GOP prides itself on the quality of education that it provides to each student.
Korean classes focus on conversation, grammar and culture. Other areas of study include the Divine Principle, English, Math and Social Studies. Along with their studies, students participate in daily Hoon Dok Hwe (scripture reading), evening closing sessions, weekly Sunday Service and major church events.
Students who wish to continue their education in Korea are eligible to apply to a Korean middle school upon completion of the one-year GOP program. Additionally, a half-year intensive Korean Language Study (PREP) is available for those who choose this option.

Learning Outside the Classroom
Included in the program are monthly class trips designed to broaden students’ understanding of Korea and the Unification faith. Students also have the opportunity to participate in Cheong Pyeong workshops at least twice during the year. This cultural immersion helps students to gain a well-rounded understanding of Korean culture and Unificationist philosophy, while at the same time providing them with meaningful life skills and character development.

It is so wonderful that True Mother is reviving this program. I am grateful to Yeon -Ah Nim who is making efforts already. Hope many second generation students from the US can attend for this school year.
