Background
Marian North was born in Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia in 1954. She graduated from University of Melbourne in 1975 with a B.A. in History/Indian Studies and earned a Bachelor’s in Social Work in 1977. Marian worked in acute psychiatric care from 1977-1980 before backpacking through the South Pacific and South America from 1980-1981.
Marian joined Unification Movement in New York in 1981. She fundraised with the 43rd St. teams and then attended the Unification Theological Seminary from 1983-86. After fishing for the summer, she moved to Nevada an assisted the Nevada Family Church for a time before heading to the Iowa Family Church in 1988.
Marian served as a campus minister in 1987 and then moved to Minnesota in 1990. She served at state level positions for the next two years for Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP), American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) and for Interdenominational Conference for Clergy (ICC).
In 1992, Marian became the Pastor for the Wisconsin Family Church, where she still serves today. She re- entered the social work field in 1998. She worked in Long-Term Care Neurorehabilitation and as a hospice social worker from 1995-2015. She is currently enrolled in the D.Min program at UTS planning her D.Min project around hospice chaplaincy.
Marian received the Marriage Blessing with Glenn North, originally from Racine, Wisconsin, at the 30,000 Couples Marriage Blessing Ceremony in Seoul in 1992. They live in Waterford, Wisconsin and together, they have three children.
